We’re excited to announce the launch of Kitchen Confessions – a storytelling initiative, dedicated to sharing real stories from within the restaurant industry, told by those who live it.
As a brand, we’ve spent years working closely with professionals in the restaurant business. We understand the extreme demands of the job, and we’ve developed a great appreciation for the lives and stories behind the people wearing our shoes.
Kitchen Confessions is our way of giving those stories a platform.
Our purpose
We aim to build a growing collection of real, honest, and unfiltered stories from chefs, waiters and restaurant owners across South Africa and beyond.
We’re hoping to:
- Create a space for authentic storytelling
- Give chefs a platform to share their journey and advice
- Build a strong sense of community within the service and restaurant industry
Over time, this will become a library of real-life experiences and a strong platform for chefs to read inspiring stories and learn how to overcome the biggest challenges in this industry.
What you can expect
Each Kitchen Confessions feature will spotlight a chef, waiter or restaurant owner and their journey.
We’ll dive into the basics of of how they got started, mistakes they’ve learned from, and of course, their Kitchen Confession – or at the very least, the one unique moment that they’ll never forget.
We also hope to dig even deeper and cover the often unspoken areas of the industry like mental health, physical strain, culture & identity, and work relationships.

Whether you’re a chef, restaurant owner, or just a casual foodie, Kitchen Confessions offers the chance to gain insight into the real world of the restaurant industry and learn from experienced professionals. You might also get the opportunity to connect with people within the industry, or get the inspiration to take that next step in your career.
